Mentorship by National Laboratory Scientists
CNEC partner laboratories have committed to host students for summer research internships, which CNEC will make a cornerstone of each student’s graduate research program. National Laboratory scientists will be appointed as adjunct faculty overseeing specific graduate research projects and will participate directly in the guidance of the students’ research and their mentorship. The Consortium will support six summer internships each year at the National Labs, and CNEC will involve the mentoring laboratory scientists in the formulation and continual advising of each student’s program of research through the student’s graduation. Each internship will be 12 weeks in duration, and each student’s National Laboratory scientist mentor will continue to advise the student and communicate with his/ or her faculty mentor throughout the year.
